In the Now…

We will start at the very beginning and a very good beginning is the time of now.  The present.  Currently, this is one concept very close to my own heart…Reproductive Health.

The definition of Reproductive Health is:

“…a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being…Reproductive health therefore implies that people are able to have a satisfying and safe sex life and that they have the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when and how often to do so…” (as shortened from Paragraph 7.2 of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development, New York, United Nations, 1994.

Of course, such a large definition brings up many different thoughts, arguments, and action strategies.  Some of these could include in vitro fertilization, premarital sex, female circumcision.  I have a feeling we will touch on those in future posts but please feel free to start sharing your opinions, resources, and counter-points with me now.  Go ahead, start commenting.  This blog, unlike my personal one, would be purposeless without the contributions of everyone else who cares to save the kosmos.

But for today’s topic of Reproductive Health we will share a video.  There is music but if you do not have proper computer sound capabilities, do not fret.  This video was created by the United Nations Population Fund or UNFPA.  The video has been translated into many languages so feel free to easily share it with others.  It is called Women, War, Health.  The first step is just to watch it HERE…the second would be to share your thoughts, ask questions, rant and rave, and then see what we can do about it.
